At Ridgeway Studios, our ISTD Ballet, Tap, and Modern Dance classes provide the essential technical foundation for students aspiring to a career in dance, while also offering a welcoming space for those who simply wish to enjoy dance as a recreational pursuit. Exams are available for students who wish to progress formally, but participation is always optional — ensuring that every dancer can train at a pace and level that suits their goals.

Classes are designed to be both technical and expressive, balancing the discipline of the ISTD syllabus with creativity, performance, and enjoyment. Students learn to master posture, rhythm, and precision while also exploring artistry, musicality, and stage presence. This approach reassures parents that Ridgeway’s ISTD training is not only prestigious and accredited, but also fun, engaging, and confidence‑building.

Small class sizes, limited to a maximum of fifteen students, ensure personalised attention and intensive training. Ridgeway offers classes from grades through to majors, with two examination sessions held each year for those who wish to progress quickly and thoroughly through the levels. These internationally recognised qualifications support entry into vocational colleges, conservatoires, and higher education, while also building transferable skills such as discipline, resilience, and teamwork.

Importantly, ISTD training at Ridgeway is woven into our wider dance curriculum. Students benefit from a versatile foundation that integrates ballet, tap, and modern with jazz, contemporary, acrobatics, and commercial styles. This ensures that whether a student dreams of a professional career or simply enjoys the joy of movement, Ridgeway provides a pathway that is both inspiring and achievable.

Beyond examinations, Ridgeway students gain opportunities to perform in showcases, competitions, and productions, applying their training on stage. Our professional teaching staff, many of whom are active in the industry, provide expert guidance and mentorship, ensuring that every student receives the highest standard of training. Alumni have gone on to perform in West End productions, national tours, and teaching careers, proving the strength and reputation of Ridgeway’s ISTD programme.
