ISTD Dance

Imperial Society of Teacher of Dancing (ISTD)

ISTD examinations are taken in Ballet, Tap and Modern dance. These graded and vocational examinations provide a foundation for all young dancers. Student working through this syllabus can take examinations when they are ready and in time this can lead on to their teacher training qualification.

These classes teach the fundamental techniques that are required for those students wishing to take up a career in dance. There are a maximum of fifteen pupils per class which is vital due to the intense training being offered.

Classes offered are all grades to major’s where student’s work through the required syllabus in each grade and take examinations when ready. Ridgeway hold two examination sessions annually, enabling students to work quickly and thoroughly through their grades.

ISTD examinations offer students an opportunity to recognise their achievements in dance by entering grade and vocational examinations from the age of six years old.
